The new furniture and interior elements were carefully crafted to work well with Frank Gehry’s existing public spaces and finishes. Two full monolithic glass and wax-finished plywood cabinets contain art publication, artists’ DVDs and other related merchandise. Behind the existing bar several open, internally lit, stacked wax-finished plywood cabinets were added to provide display and storage space for wine bottles. The program consists of a 1000-square-foot Main Gallery, one smaller project gallery, as well as office and art handling and storage spaces. A continuous polycarbonate crown was added to the building. It acts as a signage surface during the day and when back-lit at night it serves as a beacon in the Culver City gallery district.
